Advertiser disclosure

Last updated October 6, 2026

Fruga is independent. This page explains every way we earn money, so you can judge our recommendations knowing exactly where we stand.

This disclosure follows Canada's Competition Act and the Ad Standards Influencer Marketing Disclosure Guidelines, which require any material connection with a brand, such as a commission, to be disclosed clearly.

1. How Fruga makes money

Today Fruga earns no revenue. As we grow, we expect to earn money through:

  • Credit card partner links. If you apply for a card through a labelled link on fruga.io and the issuer approves you, the issuer or an affiliate network may pay us a commission. You pay nothing extra, and the card's fees, rates and welcome offer are the same as applying directly.

We don't show display ads, and we never sell or rent personal information. See our privacy policy.

  • Every link that may earn us a commission is labelled Partner link where it appears.
  • Commission amounts differ between issuers and cards. Many cards we list pay us nothing at all, and they are listed and evaluated exactly the same way.
  • When you click a partner link, the issuer or affiliate network may set its own cookie on its own website to record the referral. Fruga doesn't send them your wallet, your browsing or any information about you.

3. How recommendations are made

  • The extension ranks only your own cards. At checkout, Fruga compares only the cards in your wallet. Commissions are not part of that comparison, and they never will be.
  • The card directory uses one formula for every card. Cards are sorted by the same yearly estimate on a typical budget (how we compare), whether or not we have a partnership with the issuer.
  • Guides aren't paid placements. Our guides explain strategies, many of which earn us nothing, and we say so when a card without a partnership is the better choice.

4. The extension and affiliate codes

The Fruga extension never adds, replaces or removes affiliate links, referral codes or coupon codes on the websites you visit, including at checkout. If we ever offer an affiliate feature in the extension, it will follow the Chrome Web Store's affiliate policy: disclosed on the store listing and in the extension before you install, and only ever applied after you choose to.

5. Accuracy and dates

Card details are summaries we check against each issuer's own website. Every card shows when a person last verified it. Cards still being checked are marked Being verified. Rates, fees and offers change, and approval is always up to the issuer, so confirm the terms on the issuer's site before you apply.

6. What this means for you

  • We may earn money when you apply through a labelled link. Keep that in mind when you read our pages.
  • Compare our information with other sources and with the issuer's own terms before you decide.
  • Fruga is an information tool, not a financial advisor. Nothing on this site is personal financial advice.
